Trick-or-Treat Sponsored by Downtown Merchants

Lexington, VA (October 18, 2010) - Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my! Soon these creatures, and many others, will be roaming the streets looking for goodies. Their search will be rewarded at participating downtown Lexington businesses. Merchants are ready to greet the little ghouls, ages 12 and under, with treats on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 3:30pm-5pm.

There are many other activities planned for children to enjoy. The Lexington Carriage Company will be giving free carriage rides to children, compliments of Shana Layman! They will depart from the old McCrum’s parking lot and circle the block. Their hours will be the same as Trick or Treating, and they will give rides to as many children as possible.

On W&L’s BDG Quad, the Nabors Service League will be hosting a Halloween Carnival with fun activities for all children. Follow signs on Washington Street and there will be crossing guards to help with the traffic crossings.

Food and drinks will be available in the Fellowship Hall at the Trinity United Methodist Church located at 147 South Main Street, sponsored by the Trinity United Methodist Youth Group. Plans are to provide selections of pizza, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, chips and desserts. The café will open at 4:30pm-6pm. Cost: $5, $3 for children 10 and under.

While the streets will remain open and the Lexington Police Department will be on hand, please be very careful and alert if you drive through Lexington and watch for children crossing streets.
